Widget Troubleshooting
GapFix ships home-screen widgets (Streak and Progress) plus lock-screen widgets (circular and rectangular). Tapping any of them takes you straight into the 2-minute Daily Practice. When a widget misbehaves, here's how to fix it.
The widgets at a glance
- Streak widget (home screen) — your current streak at a glance
- Progress widget (home screen) — where you are in your learning
- Lock-screen widgets — compact circular and rectangular styles
- Tapping a widget deep-links into the Daily Practice, the fastest way to make today count
- Optional cosmetic widget styles, Ladder and Terminal, can be unlocked in the app for 400 XP each
Widget doesn't appear in the gallery
- GapFix requires iOS 18.5 or later — check that your device is up to date.
- Open GapFix at least once after installing it. iOS only registers an app's widgets after the app has run.
- Restart your device. The widget gallery's cache is famously stubborn, and a restart clears it.
Widget isn't updating
iOS decides when widgets refresh and budgets those refreshes to save battery, so a short lag is normal. If a widget seems properly stuck:
- Open the GapFix app — widgets refresh shortly after the app runs.
- Remove the widget and add it again.
- Restart your device.
- Check Low Power Mode — it reduces background refreshes across all apps.
Widget shows yesterday's streak
Streak days roll over at your local midnight, and the widget may take a few minutes to catch up after that or after you finish a lesson. Opening the app nudges it along. If the numbers inside the app are right, the widget will follow.
Tapping the widget doesn't open the Daily Practice
- Update GapFix to the latest version.
- Remove and re-add the widget.
- If it still misfires, report it — that's a bug we'd want to squash quickly.
Ladder and Terminal styles
The Ladder and Terminal looks are cosmetic styles unlocked with XP (400 XP each) — they change how the widget looks, never what you can learn. If you've unlocked a style and the widget hasn't picked it up yet, open the app once and give the widget a moment to refresh.
