Widgets & Lock Screen
Widgets keep your streak and progress one glance away — and give you the fastest possible route into the Daily Practice. On days when motivation is thin, that two-second head start matters.
What's available
Home-screen widgets:
- Streak — your current streak, right on your home screen
- Progress — where you are in your learning at a glance
Lock-screen widgets:
- Compact circular and rectangular styles that sit on your lock screen
Tapping any GapFix widget deep-links straight into the Daily Practice — the 2-minute, 5-question review. Since the Daily Practice counts toward your streak, the lock-screen widget is genuinely the lowest-friction streak saver we know of: glance, tap, two minutes, done.
Adding a home-screen widget
- Touch and hold an empty area of your home screen.
- Tap the button to add a widget.
- Search for GapFix, choose Streak or Progress, and pick a size.
- Tap Add Widget, then position it where you'll actually see it.
Adding a lock-screen widget
- Touch and hold your lock screen, then tap Customize.
- Select the lock screen and tap the widget area.
- Choose GapFix and pick the circular or rectangular style.
Widget styles: Ladder and Terminal
Prefer a different look? Two cosmetic widget styles — Ladder and Terminal — can be unlocked in the app for 400 XP each. They're purely cosmetic: XP never buys learning content in GapFix, but it can make your home screen a little more you. You earn XP the usual way — lessons, Boosters, the Daily Practice, and streaks.
Good to know
- Widgets require iOS 18.5 or later.
- iOS controls when widgets refresh, so a short lag after finishing a lesson is normal. Opening the app nudges them to update.
- There's no Apple Watch app — for wrist-distance access, the lock-screen widgets are the quickest glance-and-go option.
Widget not behaving?
If a widget won't appear, won't update, or won't open the Daily Practice, the Widget Troubleshooting article walks through the fixes step by step.
