Boosters
What Are Boosters?
Boosters are expert-built interactive micro-sessions that go deep on one idea in about 5 to 10 minutes. They sit alongside your 12-week plan as optional extras — pick one up whenever you're curious, with no prerequisites and no set order. And they're built around doing: roughly half of every Booster is you answering, building, sorting, and deciding — not reading.
The short version
- Expert-built interactive micro-sessions, roughly 5–10 minutes each
- About half of every Booster is hands-on: polls, word tiles, tap-the-gap lines, judge calls
- Discovered in the Explore tab, kept in your Library
- Every Booster closes with a judge call that seeds your review queue, then a commit
- Free tier: 1 Booster a day. GapFix Pro: unlimited
- Completing a Booster earns XP and counts toward your streak
Boosters vs lessons vs Daily Practice
GapFix has three kinds of learning, and it helps to keep them straight:
Daily lessons: The core of your 12-week plan — about 15 focused minutes a day of interactive items built for your specific gaps.
Boosters: Optional interactive micro-sessions for breadth and curiosity. They don't belong to your plan and you can do them in any order.
Daily Practice: The 2-minute, 5-question daily review that keeps everything you've learned fresh. It's unlimited and free for everyone, forever.
What a session looks like
A Booster alternates short story beats with interactive blocks, so you're doing something every minute or two. A typical medium Booster runs like this: a poll ("what would you do here?" — answer, then see how the community voted), a story, a phrase-builder where you assemble the key line from word tiles, more story, a cloze where you tap the missing words back into that line, the principle spelled out, one last story beat, a judge call on a messy situation, and a closing commit — "which of these will you actually do today?"
The judge call at the end isn't just a check. It seeds your review queue: you'll see "You'll see this again in 1 day — that's how it sticks," and the idea resurfaces in Daily Practice on expanding intervals tuned to how well you remember.
The mechanics, by name
Across Boosters you'll meet polls with community results (a Booster exclusive), predictions, word-tile phrase building, the faded ladder (build the key line, then tap the gaps, then type it from memory — the same line with less help each time), sequencing, categorizing, spot-the-error ("tap the phrase that will cause the problem"), match pairs, swipe sorts, sliders, judge calls, before/after line repairs, and short dialogues.
Where to find them
Browse the Explore tab to discover Boosters, or use the Search tab if you're after something specific. Anything you save, plus your collections and recent sessions, lives in the Library tab.
How many can I do?
On the free tier you can start 1 new Booster a day; the meter resets at your local midnight, and revisiting a Booster you've already completed is always free. During your 7-day trial, and on GapFix Pro, Boosters are unlimited.
