XP & Leveling System

XP (experience points) and levels form the progression framework of GapFix. As you complete lessons, Boosters, quizzes, and other learning activities, you earn XP. Accumulating XP advances you through 50 levels, each unlocking recognition, new features, and badges.

How XP Works

Every learning activity rewards XP. The amount varies based on activity type and difficulty.

XP Rewards:

From Plan Lessons:

  • Completing a Beginner lesson: 50 XP
  • Completing an Intermediate lesson: 75 XP
  • Completing an Advanced lesson: 100 XP
  • Completing a daily quiz associated with a lesson: +25 XP

From Boosters:

  • Completing a Tips & Tricks Booster: 60 XP
  • Completing a Framework Booster: 75 XP
  • Completing a Case Study Booster: 75 XP
  • Completing a Templates Booster: 60 XP

Bonus XP:

  • Streak milestone bonuses: +50 XP at 7, 14, 30, 60, 100-day streaks
  • Collection completion: +30 XP when you complete all Boosters in a saved collection
  • First-time achievements: Unlocking new badges grants bonus XP

XP multipliers (Premium):

  • 1.25x multiplier on all XP earned
  • Meaning a 100 XP activity becomes 125 XP
  • This compounds significantly over time

Levels and Progression

GapFix has 50 levels. Each level requires progressively more XP to reach.

Level progression:

  • Level 1-10: 300-500 XP per level (early progression is faster to build momentum)
  • Level 11-25: 600-800 XP per level
  • Level 26-40: 900-1200 XP per level
  • Level 41-50: 1500-2000 XP per level

Total XP needed:

  • Level 10: ~5,000 cumulative XP
  • Level 25: ~20,000 cumulative XP
  • Level 50: ~75,000 cumulative XP

Most users reach Level 25 within 3-4 months of consistent engagement.

Level Milestones and Recognition

Each level unlock includes:

Visual recognition:

  • Level badge updates on your profile
  • Your level appears on leaderboards
  • Your avatar shows your current level

Feature unlocks:

  • Certain advanced features unlock at specific levels
  • Level 10: Access to advanced Booster collections
  • Level 20: Ability to create and share custom learning paths
  • Level 30: Access to premium community features
  • Level 40: Advanced analytics and insights dashboard
  • Level 50: Mastery badge and hall of fame recognition

Milestone celebrations:

  • Level 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 include special milestone notifications
  • GapFix celebrates these achievements in your notification center
  • Achievements associated with reaching milestones unlock

Viewing Your Level and XP

On your home screen:

  • Your current level displays prominently
  • Progress bar shows XP toward next level
  • Tapping it shows the full leveling breakdown

On your profile:

  • Your current level badge is visible
  • Your XP history shows XP earned over recent days/weeks
  • Level progression chart shows your journey from Level 1 to current level

On leaderboards:

  • Your level badge appears next to your name
  • Leaderboards can be sorted by level as an alternative to GapFixScore

XP and Other Gamification Features

XP vs. Streaks:

  • XP measures total engagement and effort
  • Streaks measure consistency
  • You can have high XP with broken streaks (sporadic intense learning) or high streaks with slower XP growth (consistent but lighter engagement)
  • The healthiest profile balances both

XP vs. GapFixScore:

  • GapFixScore is your overall engagement metric (accounts for plan completion, streaks, booster engagement)
  • XP is cumulative lifetime progress
  • You can have high XP but lower GapFixScore if you've broken streaks recently
  • They measure complementary aspects of your learning journey

Achievements and XP:

  • Unlocking achievements grants bonus XP
  • Higher-level achievements grant more XP
  • Achievement hunting (deliberately pursuing specific achievements) is a way to boost XP growth

Pro Tips for XP Growth

Consistent daily activity: One lesson daily for 60 days accumulates more XP than 10 lessons once weekly. Consistency multiplies over time.

Mix activity types: Don't just do plan lessons. Boosters + lessons grow XP faster because you're doing more total activities.

Pursue bonus XP: Streak milestones and achievements grant bonuses. Intentionally hitting 7, 14, 30-day streaks builds bonus XP.

Premium multiplier: If you're considering Premium, the 1.25x XP multiplier means over 6 months, you'd earn roughly 15,000 additional XP—enough for 2-3 levels.

Focus on engagement, not XP farming: Some users try to farm XP by doing many quick Boosters. This can work but reduces learning quality. Focus on meaningful learning; XP follows naturally.

Level Caps and Long-Term Progression

After reaching Level 50:

  • You've achieved mastery status on GapFix
  • Your profile displays a special badge
  • You can continue earning XP (XP still accumulates) but don't advance further in traditional levels
  • Some users are in "post-mastery" with 100,000+ XP

Prestige systems (future):

  • GapFix is exploring "prestige" systems that let Level 50 users reset and releveled for additional challenges
  • This is in beta and not yet available to all users

Troubleshooting XP Issues

XP not appearing after completing activity:

  • Verify the activity was fully completed (not just started)
  • Close and reopen the app for data sync
  • Go to Settings > Account > Sync to force immediate sync
  • Give it a moment—XP sometimes takes a few seconds to register

Wrong XP amount awarded:

  • Different activities award different XP amounts
  • Beginner activities reward less than Advanced
  • Ensure you're comparing equivalent difficulty activities

Premium multiplier not working:

  • Verify your Premium subscription is active (Settings > Subscription)
  • Check that you've completed a learning activity since upgrading to Premium
  • XP from before upgrading doesn't retroactively apply multiplier
  • Contact support if multiplier isn't applying to new activities

Level not advancing despite earning XP:

  • You might be very close to the next level—check the exact XP amounts required
  • Give the app a moment to sync and update level display
  • Force sync via Settings > Account > Sync
