Native iPhone Capabilities

The GapFix iPhone app is built using Apple's native frameworks, providing deep integration with iOS:

Widgets

iOS widgets provide quick access to your GapFix information from the home screen or lock screen without opening the app.

Installing widgets:

  1. Long-press on your home screen
  2. Tap the "+" button in the bottom left
  3. Scroll down and select "GapFix"
  4. Choose which widget size you want:
  5. Tap "Add Widget"
  6. You can add multiple widgets to different screens

Available widgets:

  • Daily Lesson Reminder: Shows your next scheduled lesson
  • Progress Widget: Displays your GapFixScore and streak
  • Achievements Widget: Shows recent unlocked achievements
  • Leaderboard Widget: Shows your ranking
  • XP Counter: Quick view of daily XP earned

Lock screen widgets (iOS 16+):

If you have iOS 16 or later, you can add widgets to your lock screen:

  1. Long-press your lock screen
  2. Tap "Customize"
  3. Tap the "+" button
  4. Select "GapFix"
  5. Choose a lock screen widget:
  6. Tap "Add"

Lock screen widgets update throughout the day as you earn XP and complete lessons.

Siri Integration

Control GapFix using voice commands with Siri:

Available Siri commands:

  • "Open GapFix" - Launches the app
  • "Start my GapFix lesson" - Opens next scheduled lesson
  • "What's my GapFixScore?" - Reads your score (requires Siri access)
  • "Show my GapFix streak" - Reads your current streak
  • "Check my achievements" - Lists recent achievements
  • "Start a booster" - Opens the booster menu

Using Siri shortcuts:

  1. Open the Shortcuts app on your iPhone
  2. Tap the "+" button to create a new shortcut
  3. Tap "Add Action"
  4. Search for "GapFix" in suggested actions
  5. Select the GapFix action you want (e.g., "Open Lesson")
  6. Name your shortcut (e.g., "Start Learning")
  7. You can now invoke this shortcut by saying "Hey Siri, Start Learning"

Example shortcuts:

  • "Morning Lesson" - Opens GapFix and navigates to today's lesson
  • "Show my score" - Opens the profile screen
  • "5-Minute Booster" - Filters and shows available boosters under 5 minutes

Haptic Feedback

The GapFix iOS app uses haptic feedback (vibration) to provide tactile responses:

Where you'll feel haptics:

  • When you unlock an achievement
  • When you earn a level up
  • When you complete a lesson
  • When you tap important buttons
  • During streak milestones (7-day, 30-day, etc.)
  • When you reach your daily goal

Adjusting haptic feedback:

  1. Open GapFix Settings
  2. Scroll to "Feedback"
  3. Toggle "Haptic Feedback" on or off
  4. You can also adjust intensity (Light, Medium, Heavy)

Push Notifications

Notifications keep you engaged and remind you to learn:

Types of notifications:

  • Daily lesson reminders (customizable time)
  • Achievement unlocked alerts

  • Social leaderboard updates (if enabled)
  • Course completion celebrations
  • Premium feature offers

Managing notifications:

To set up Apple Watch:

  1. On your iPhone, open the Watch app

  6. Tap "Install" on the watch

Using GapFix on Apple Watch:

  1. Open the GapFix app on your watch
  2. You can view your GapFixScore and current streak
  3. Tap to see your XP for today
  4. Tap and hold to access quick actions
  5. Most learning must be done on iPhone or web (watch screen too small for lessons)

Apple Watch watchOS requirements:

  • watchOS 8.0 or later
  • Apple Watch Series 4 or later recommended
  • Synchronization requires iPhone to be nearby

Offline Mode

Download and learn without internet connection:

How offline mode works:

  1. Download lessons while connected to WiFi
  2. Lessons are stored on your iPhone
  3. Go offline (enable airplane mode or lose connection)
  4. Access downloaded lessons in the offline section
  5. Complete lessons and earn XP offline

Downloading lessons:

  1. Open any lesson
  2. Look for the download icon
  3. Tap to download for offline access
  4. Lesson is saved to your device
  5. You can download multiple lessons

Syncing offline progress:

  1. Complete lessons while offline
  2. Your progress is saved locally on iPhone
  3. Reconnect to internet
  4. GapFix automatically syncs offline progress
  5. Your XP, streaks, and achievements update
  6. Progress syncs to all your devices

Storage for downloaded lessons:

  • Each downloaded lesson: 50-200MB depending on content
  • Maintain at least 500MB free space on iPhone
  • You can delete downloaded lessons to free space
  • Videos re-download when needed

Face ID and Touch ID

Secure your GapFix account with biometric authentication:

Setting up Face ID or Touch ID:

  1. Open GapFix and go to Settings
  2. Tap "Security" or "Privacy"
  3. Toggle "Face ID" or "Touch ID" on
  4. Authenticate with your face or fingerprint
  5. Future logins will use biometric authentication
