How we protect your data:

  • Your data is encrypted both in transit and at rest
  • GapFix never stores complete card numbers (we store only last 4 digits and expiration date)
  • Card processing is handled by PCI DSS-compliant payment processors

PCI Compliance:

  • GapFix uses Stripe, Square, or similar industry-standard processors
  • These processors are PCI Level 1 certified (highest security standard)
  • Your full card details are never stored on GapFix servers

#### Fraud Protection

What GapFix does:

  • Monitors for unusual charge patterns
  • Detects and blocks fraudulent transactions
  • If fraud is suspected, your account is temporarily frozen until you verify

What you should do:

  • Monitor your statements regularly
  • Report any unauthorized charges immediately
  • Update your payment method if your card is compromised

#### Handling a Compromised Card

If your card is compromised (fraudulent charges or suspected breach):

  1. Contact your bank immediately (not GapFix)—they'll issue a new card
  2. Go to Settings > Billing > Payment Methods in GapFix
  3. Delete the compromised card
  4. Add your new card details
  5. Email help@gapfix.app if you were charged fraudulently—they can review for refund eligibility

Troubleshooting Payment Issues

#### "Payment Declined" Error

Possible causes:

  1. Insufficient funds
  2. Card expired
  3. Billing address mismatch
  4. Fraud block by your bank
  5. Incorrect card details entered

Solutions:

  1. Verify card is not expired
  2. Check you have available funds
  3. Confirm billing address matches your bank records
  4. Call your bank to check for fraud blocks
  5. Try entering card details again (check for typos)
  6. Try a different payment method
  7. Wait a few minutes and retry

#### "Invalid Card Number" Error

This means:

  • The card number you entered is incorrect or invalid
  • Card doesn't match accepted card types (Visa, Mastercard, Amex)

To fix:

  1. Re-enter the card number carefully (check for typos)
  2. Verify the card is a supported type (Visa, Mastercard, or Amex)
  3. Try a different card
  4. Contact your bank to confirm card is active

#### Charge Posted but Access Not Activated

This means:

  • Your payment went through
  • But Premium features aren't showing

To fix:

  1. Close and reopen the GapFix app
  2. Go to Settings > Account > Sync
  3. Check Settings > Subscription—it should show "Premium - Active"
  4. Wait 5-10 minutes for data to sync fully
  5. If still not showing, contact help@gapfix.app

#### Multiple Charges Posted

This might happen if:

  • You upgraded on both app and web (created duplicate subscriptions)
  • A failed charge retried and succeeded
  • You canceled and re-upgraded quickly

To fix:

  1. Check Settings > Subscription on both app and web
  2. If you see two active subscriptions, cancel one
  3. Contact help@gapfix.app with your receipt dates for refund review

#### "We Don't Accept This Payment Method" Error

This means:

  • You tried to use a payment method GapFix doesn't support
  • Examples: Prepaid cards from certain issuers, virtual card numbers from some providers

Solutions:

  1. Use a standard credit or debit card
  2. Try Apple Pay (on iOS)
  3. Use PayPal if available in your region
  4. For UPI (India), select UPI at checkout

Pro Tips for Payment Method Management

Keep backup card: Add 2-3 payment methods so if one fails at renewal, the backup can be used.

Set reminders for expiration: If your card expires on a date near your renewal date, update it a few days before.

Monitor statements: Check your credit card statement monthly—you'll catch any issues quickly.

Test before renewal: If you add a new card, make a test purchase (small amount) to ensure it works before your subscription renews.

Receipts for records: Download and save your receipt emails for tax or personal records.

International travels: If traveling, notify your bank of travel dates so they don't flag charges as fraud.
