On iOS:
- Open GapFix
- Go to Settings > Subscription
- You'll see "Renews on [Date]" clearly displayed
- Below that: "Your next charge: $X.XX"
On Android:
- Open GapFix
- Go to Settings > Subscription or Account & Billing
- You'll see "Renews on [Date]" clearly displayed
- Below that: "Your next charge: $X.XX"
Via email:
- Check your email for the receipt from your first charge
- Your renewal date is one billing cycle from that date
- GapFix also sends reminders 7 days before renewal
Auto-Renewal Explained
Your Premium subscription automatically renews at the end of each billing cycle.
How it works:
- Your subscription is set to "Auto-Renew: On" by default
- On your renewal date, GapFix charges your payment method
- Your subscription continues without interruption
- You remain a Premium subscriber
Why auto-renewal:
- Ensures uninterrupted Premium access
- You don't have to manually renew each cycle
- Premium features don't lapse
Notifications:
- 7 days before renewal: Email reminder
- 1 day before renewal: In-app notification
- At renewal time: Charge posts and receipt is emailed
Changing Your Billing Frequency
You can switch between Monthly, Quarterly, and Annual anytime. Changes take effect at your next renewal date.
To change your billing frequency:
On iOS:
- Settings > Subscription
- Tap "Manage Subscription" or "Change Plan"
- See your current plan and available options
- Tap the new frequency you want (Monthly/Quarterly/Annual)
- Tap "Change" or "Confirm"
- The change takes effect at your next renewal date
On Android:
- Settings > Subscription or Account & Billing
- Tap "Manage Subscription" or "Change Plan"
- See your current plan and available options
- Tap the new frequency you want (Monthly/Quarterly/Annual)
- Tap "Change" or "Confirm"
- The change takes effect at your next renewal date
Example:
- You're on Monthly ($3.99/month), renews Aug 15
- Aug 10: You change to Annual
- Aug 15: Your annual charge ($35.99) posts instead of the monthly charge
- You get credit for the Aug 15 - Sep 14 period you already paid for
Timing of Changes
When you change your billing frequency:
If you upgrade to a higher-value cycle:
- You pay the difference immediately (prorated)
- Your renewal date may shift to align with the new cycle
- Example: Change from Monthly to Annual on Aug 15, and you just paid $3.99 monthly; you might pay $32 now ($35.99 annual - $3.99 credited)
If you downgrade to a lower-value cycle:
- Change takes effect at next renewal
- You continue on current plan until renewal date
- At renewal, you're charged the new, lower amount
- You don't get a refund for downgrading mid-cycle

Managing Your Subscription
#### Viewing Current Subscription Status
On iOS:
- Settings > Subscription
- You see:
On Android:
- Settings > Subscription or Account & Billing
- You see:
#### Pausing Your Subscription
Unlike canceling, pausing temporarily stops your subscription without losing data.
To pause:
- Settings > Subscription > Manage Plan
- Tap "Pause Subscription"
- Choose pause duration (1 month, 3 months, 6 months)
- Confirm pause
During pause:
- Premium features are unavailable
- You revert to Free plan access
- Your learning data stays intact
- At the end of your pause, subscription resumes automatically (charged then)
Best for:
- Financial constraints (pause for 3 months, resume when budget allows)
- Taking a break from learning (pause, then resume when ready)
- Career transitions (pause learning during a move or new job onboarding)
#### Canceling Your Subscription
Canceling ends your subscription completely.
To cancel:
- Settings > Subscription > Manage Plan
- Tap "Cancel Premium" or "Cancel Subscription"
- You'll be asked why you're canceling (optional feedback)
- Confirm cancellation
What happens:
- Cancellation takes effect at your next renewal date (no immediate charge)
- You keep Premium features until the renewal date
- After renewal date, you revert to Free
- You're not charged anymore after cancellation
Example:
- Premium monthly, renews Aug 15
- Aug 10: You cancel Premium
- Aug 15: No charge posts, you're now on Free plan
- Aug 15 onwards: No Premium features
Payment Issues and Troubleshooting
#### Charge Declined
If your renewal charge is declined:
What happens:
- GapFix attempts to charge your card on your renewal date
- If declined, you'll receive an email notification
- You have 5-10 days to update your payment method
- If payment isn't received in time, your Premium access is suspended
To fix:
- Go to Settings > Subscription > Manage Payment Method
- Update your card information with current, valid card
- GapFix will retry the charge
- Once successful, Premium access is restored
Why charges decline:
- Card expired
- Insufficient funds
- Card issuer fraud block (call your bank)
- Incorrect address or security code on file
#### Duplicate Charges
If you notice two charges instead of one:
Possible causes:
- You upgraded on both iOS app and web—sometimes creates duplicate subscriptions
- A failed charge retry succeeded later
- You canceled and re-upgraded in quick succession
To fix:
- Check Settings > Subscription on both app and web
- See if you have two active subscriptions
- Cancel the duplicate subscription
- Contact help@gapfix.app with your receipt details for a refund review
#### Missing Renewal Email
If you didn't receive your renewal reminder:
Check:
- Your email spam/junk folder (sometimes renewal emails get caught)
- Verify your account email in Settings > Account > Email
- Go to Settings > Notifications to confirm subscription emails aren't disabled
To receive future emails:
- Add noreply@gapfix.app to your contacts (prevents spam filter)
- Settings > Notifications > enable billing/subscription emails
- You can also check your renewal date manually in Settings > Subscription
Refund Policies

Pro Tips for Billing Management
Calendar reminder: Add your renewal date to your personal calendar so you're never surprised by a charge.
Annual for best value: If you're confident you'll use GapFix long-term, annual is 33% cheaper than monthly—substantial savings over time.
Quarterly balance: Want flexibility without paying monthly prices? Quarterly ($10.99) is a good balance between cost savings and commitment flexibility.
Monitor your email: Keep your account email current. Renewal reminders are sent there, and it's your first notice of issues.
Plan ahead for cancellation: If you know you'll cancel, don't wait until the day before renewal—change your plan or pause a few days earlier to give the system time to process.
Use pause for breaks: Rather than canceling (losing the trial opportunity if you re-upgrade), pause your subscription if you need a temporary break.
