Email Settings
Email Settings
GapFix sends important account notifications and optional learning reminders via email. Control what you receive and when through Email Settings.
Accessing Email Settings
Navigate to Settings > Notifications > Email to manage all email preferences.
Account & Security Emails
These emails are essential to account security and cannot be disabled:
Account Creation Confirmation: Sent when you create your account. Confirms your email address is correct.
Password Change Notification: Sent whenever your password is changed. Allows you to alert support if you didn't make the change.
Login from New Device: Sent when you log in from a device we haven't seen before. Lets you verify if it was actually you.
Security Alerts: Sent if unusual activity is detected on your account (multiple failed logins, etc.).
Account Deletion Confirmation: Sent when you delete your account, confirming the process has begun.
These emails protect your account and are always sent regardless of notification settings.
Subscription & Billing Emails
If you're a paying subscriber, you'll receive:
Billing Confirmation: Receipt after each monthly or yearly charge.
Renewal Reminder: 7 days before your subscription renews, confirming your payment method is valid.
Subscription Cancellation Confirmation: Sent when you cancel, confirming your subscription ends on a specific date.
Payment Issue Alerts: If your card declines or payment fails, we notify you so you can update your payment method.
Toggle these on/off in Email Settings under "Billing Notifications."
Learning & Engagement Emails
These optional emails encourage consistent learning:
Daily Lesson Reminders: Sent at your preferred time each day. Reminds you of today's lessons and your current streak. Default: On. Toggle under "Learning Reminders."
Weekly Progress Digest: Sunday email summarizing the week: lessons completed, XP earned, achievements unlocked, and upcoming week's focus. Default: On. Toggle under "Weekly Digest."
Booster Recommendations: Personalized suggestions for new Boosters based on your learning history and interests. Sent 2x weekly. Default: On. Toggle under "Content Recommendations."
Achievement Unlocked: Emails celebrating new achievements, badges, and level-ups. Default: On. Toggle under "Achievement Notifications."
League Updates: If you're active in leagues, get weekly standing updates (your position, top performers, promotion/demotion alerts). Default: On. Toggle under "League Notifications."
Community Updates: Highlights of popular content, trending topics, and community challenges. Default: Off. Toggle to opt in.
Email Frequency Controls
Even with notifications on, control how often you're emailed:
Digest Frequency: Choose to receive emails:
- Immediately (as events happen)
- Daily (combined into one daily email)
- Weekly (combined into one weekly email)
- None (notifications disabled)
Preferred Learning Times
GapFix sends learning reminders at your preferred time. Set this in Settings > Learning Preferences:
- Morning: 8:00 AM
- Afternoon: 1:00 PM
- Evening: 6:00 PM
- No Preference: Random time
Reminders respect your preference and are sent when you're most likely to engage.
Unsubscribe
At the bottom of every promotional email is an "Unsubscribe" link. Click it to opt out of that email type immediately.
Unsubscribing removes you from that email list but doesn't affect other notifications. To re-subscribe, return to Email Settings.
Email Privacy
Your email address is:
- Never shared with third parties
- Never used for marketing beyond GapFix communications
- Protected under GDPR if you're in the EU
- Your responsibility to keep current (update it in Settings > Account if it changes)
We send marketing emails only to users who've opted in. Unsubscribe anytime without consequence.
Troubleshooting Email Issues
Missing Emails: Check spam/junk folders. Add noreply@gapfix.app to your contacts to improve deliverability.
Too Many Emails: Reduce frequency in Email Settings or toggle off specific email types.
Wrong Email Address: Update your email in Settings > Account. You'll receive a confirmation email to your new address.
Unsubscribe Not Working: If unsubscribing doesn't work, manually toggle off the email type in Settings > Notifications.
Special Emails
Referral Rewards: If you refer friends, you'll receive emails about referral credit and rewards.
Promotional Offers: Occasional special offers or seasonal promotions. Opt in through Email Settings.
Product Updates: Important feature announcements and app updates. Sent rarely, cannot be disabled (part of account communications).
