Updating Your Profile

Your GapFix profile helps the platform understand your career context and personalize your learning experience. Keep it up-to-date as your role and goals evolve.

Accessing Profile Settings

From any screen, navigate to your Profile section:

Basic Information

Update your basic profile details:

Name: Your full name, displayed on your profile and leaderboards.

Email: The email address associated with your account. Used for login and important account notifications. Click "Change Email" to update.

Title: Your current job title (e.g., "Product Manager," "Senior Engineer," "Marketing Director"). This helps GapFix recommend relevant Boosters and tailor plan content.

Target Role: The position you're working toward (can be the same as your current title if you're deepening existing skills). Your learning plan uses this to identify relevant gaps.

Profile Photo: Upload a professional headshot. Appears on your profile and in leaderboards. Supports JPG, PNG, and GIF formats. Maximum 5 MB. Recommended: 400x400 pixels.

Career Information

Help GapFix understand your background:

Industry: Select your primary industry (Technology, Finance, Healthcare, Marketing, Education, etc.). Used to personalize recommendations.

Years of Experience: Total years in professional roles. Used to pitch content difficulty.

Location: City and country. Optional but helpful for networking features and regional recommendations.

Company Name: Your current company. Optional. Shown on your profile if you make it public.

Bio: A brief (up to 160 characters) description of you and your career focus. Shows on your public profile. Example: "Senior Product Manager passionate about AI accessibility."

Saving Changes

As you update any field, changes are auto-saved. You'll see a brief confirmation when each field saves. No need to manually submit—just edit and move on.

Privacy Considerations

Your profile includes visibility settings:

Change this in Settings > Privacy.

Bio and Career Info: Shown only if your profile visibility allows. Basic information (name, title) appears differently depending on visibility level.

Learning Data: Your plan details and progress are always private and never visible to others, regardless of profile visibility setting.

Learning Preferences

Your profile includes learning preferences used to personalize recommendations:

Preferred Learning Format: Text, video, or interactive (accessed through Settings > Learning Preferences)

Weekly Hours Available: How many hours per week you can dedicate to learning. Used to adjust plan density.

Preferred Learning Times: Morning, afternoon, evening, or flexible. Used for lesson delivery timing and reminder notifications.

Content Difficulty Preference: Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced. Influences plan pacing and Booster recommendations.

Categories of Interest: Select which skill categories interest you most (Visibility, Communication, Leadership, Prioritization, Time Management). Shapes Booster recommendations.

Update these in Settings > Learning Preferences anytime your situation changes.

Tips for Profile Success

Use a Professional Photo: A clear headshot increases profile credibility, especially if your profile is public.

Keep Target Role Relevant: If you switch career paths, update your target role so future plans align with new goals.

Update Regularly: Every quarter, review your profile. Career goals shift; keeping your profile current ensures GapFix recommendations stay relevant.

Consider Visibility: If you're not comfortable with public visibility, set to Private or Friends Only. You can always change later.
