Deleting Your Account

If you decide GapFix isn't right for you, we make account deletion straightforward. This guide explains the process, what happens to your data, and what to know before you go.

Important: Deletion Is Permanent

Deleting your account is irreversible. You cannot recover your learning progress, plan data, achievements, or any other account information after deletion. If you might return, consider pausing your account instead.

Reasons to Pause Instead

Before deleting, consider whether pausing might work better:

Pause Your Account: Keep your data, learning history, and progress intact but pause notifications and subscriptions. Resume anytime within a year. Go to Settings > Account > Pause Account.

Cancel Subscription: Stop paying without deleting your account. Keep your free plan access and all data. Resume premium anytime. Go to Settings > Subscription > Manage.

Archive Instead: Switch to private profile, hide from leaderboards, and pause notifications. Your data remains but you're invisible to the community.

Only delete if you're certain you won't want your data or access later.

The Deletion Process

Step 1: Navigate to Account Settings

  1. Go to Settings > Account
  2. Scroll to the bottom
  3. Tap "Delete Account"

Step 2: Confirm Your Understanding

A warning dialog appears explaining that deletion is permanent and you'll lose:

  • All learning progress and plan data
  • All completed lessons and quiz scores
  • All achievements and badges
  • All saved Boosters and collections
  • Your GapFixScore and level
  • Your participation in leagues

Read this carefully. Tap "I Understand, Continue" to proceed, or "Cancel" to go back.

Step 3: Enter Your Password

For security, confirm your identity by entering your current password. This ensures only you can delete your account.

Step 4: Final Confirmation

A final screen asks you to confirm deletion one more time. It shows:

  • Your account email
  • Deletion effective date (immediately)
  • What you'll lose
  • What happens to your subscription

Tap "Yes, Delete My Account" to proceed, or "Cancel" to keep your account.

Step 5: Deletion Initiated

You'll see a confirmation message: "Your account has been scheduled for deletion."

Your account is immediately inaccessible. You cannot log in. Your email becomes available for a new account after 30 days.

What Happens to Your Data

Immediately (Day 0):

  • Your account becomes inaccessible
  • Your profile is hidden from all users
  • You receive a deletion confirmation email
  • All personal data is flagged for deletion

30 Days:

  • Your learning data (lessons, quizzes, plans) is permanently deleted
  • Your payment method is removed
  • Your name, email, and personal information are deleted
  • Your profile is completely removed

90 Days:

  • All data backups are purged
  • Complete removal from all systems
  • Final deletion from disaster recovery backups

Subscription & Billing

Refunds: Refunds are issued based on your subscription type:

  • Monthly ($3.99/month): No refund for the current month. Subscription immediately cancelled.
  • Quarterly ($10.99/quarter): Prorated refund for unused time. Example: If you delete after 2 weeks of a quarterly subscription, you receive a refund for the remaining 2.5 weeks.
  • Yearly ($35.99/year): Prorated refund for unused time. Example: If you delete after 3 months of a yearly subscription, you receive a refund for the remaining 9 months.

Refunds process within 5-10 business days to your original payment method.

Payment Method: Your payment method (credit card, etc.) is deleted immediately and never charged again.

Failed Charges: Any charges that already processed are refunded as described above.

Data You Keep

While we delete most data, some information cannot be deleted due to legal/financial requirements:

Account Recovery Records: If you disputed charges or had payment issues, records are retained for 3 years (legal requirement).

Transaction History: Your payment transactions are retained for 7 years (tax/legal requirement).

These records contain no personal information beyond what's needed for dispute resolution and tax reporting.

Reactivation After Deletion

You cannot reactivate a deleted account. Your data is gone permanently.

However, you can:

  1. Create a new account with a new email address immediately
  2. Create a new account with your original email address after 30 days
  3. Start fresh with a new learning plan

Your previous data cannot be recovered.

Before You Delete: Last Steps

Save What You Need: If there are Booster recommendations or learning tips you want to keep, screenshot or note them now. We cannot recover this data.

Get Your Learning Summary: Before deleting, go to Settings > Account > Export Data to request a download of your learning history as a PDF. Processing takes 24 hours.

Cancel Subscription Only (If Unsure): If you only want to stop paying, cancel your subscription instead of deleting the account. You keep your free plan and all data.

Feedback: If you're leaving because of a specific issue, contact help@gapfix.app. Our team would love to understand what didn't work and might be able to help.
